Description

We require volunteers to help out during the busy summer season. Volunteer duties include daily fee compliance, cleaning the camp facilities and helping campers with general enquiries.

There will be plenty of time during the day to explore and enjoy the surrounding area. There is one position available on each of the trips, although partners, friends or family members are welcome to accompany the volunteer.

What to expect

Fitness/skills: Low. Volunteers must be good with people, able to communicate well, and have a good understanding of the English language.

Accommodation: This position would be well suited to someone with their own caravan/motor home. We can provide basic accommodation in a small portable hut, which is equipped with pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, a gas cooker and mattresses. However there is NO heating or fridge available.

Meeting location: Off SH6, 32 km north of Wanaka. The volunteer will meet a DOC staff member at Kidds Bush Campsite at 1.00 pm on their selected date, to go through the induction process.

Cost: There is no charge for this activity, but volunteers will need to bring their own food. DOC will provide a food allowance for one person – any partners, friends or family members accompany the volunteer at their own expense. Volunteers will need to take their own vehicle to Kidds Bush so they can get groceries and other supplies if needed.
