Planting day at Awarua-Waituna Wetland

Awarua-Waituna Wetland is a large internationally significant Ramsar wetland site and one of the largest remaining wetland complexes in the country.

Various opportunities arise throughout the year to assist with planting, weed control, predator control and wildlife surveys.

This is a great opportunity for people who really want to lend a hand but can only volunteer for short periods of time. Volunteers will be contacted throughout the year to check their availability as opportunities become available.

What to expect

Fitness/skills: Low to medium. Must be capable of walking on uneven ground, often among rank grass and with the possibility of getting your feet wet!

Pickup/drop off location: As each opportunity may be different, the meeting location and time will be confirmed with the participating volunteers.

Cost: There is no charge for the day trips.

What to bring

Volunteers will need to provide their own food and drink. An equipment list and information pack will be issued prior to the commencement of the activity.
