Finn out geocaching

Congratulations to grand winners the Darge Family, who had a great time mountain biking and cache hunting near Taupo during Conservation Week 2016.

Competition has closed. Thanks to all that entered.

Geocaching is an international phenomenon. It is an outdoor adventure where players use a free mobile app to find cleverly hidden containers ('caches'). It's been described as a real-world outdoor treasure hunt using GPS coordinates. Read the Geocaching 101 guide.

We placed caches in some of New Zealand's most amazing locations. In 2016 there were 26 DOC offices that contributed to the competition.
